Amherst beats Northampton to advance to Pioneer Valley Mickey Mantle Championship

The Amherst Mickey Mantle team had to play in back-to-back games to punch its ticket to the Pioneer Valley championship on Sunday. After knocking out Frontier, 12-0, Amherst beat Northampton 11-3 in the semifinals of the double elimination tournament at Deerfield Academy’s Headmaster Field. Amherst will take on Easthampton in the title game, back at Headmaster Field at 5:30 Monday. …
