Southampton town administrator semifinalists to interview Wednesday and Thursday

Committee member and Selectman Edward J. Cauley said the committee originally picked a top five, but after one of them, former West Springfield mayor Edward Gibson, withdrew his application, they picked the two next highest ranked candidates to interview.

Interim Town Administrator Regina Shea-Sullivan will also interview because the Select Board voted that she should get an interview as well.

The original four semi-finalists are Michael Szlosek of Ludlow, former town administrator of Ludlow, South Hadley and Uxbridge; former Methuen Mayor William Manzi; William Sheridan of Bloomfield, N.J., a former town administrator of Adams; and Craig Kleman of Portsmouth, N.H., a former town administrator of Becket.

The committee has since asked Donald Arthur, formerly a grant writer for Lynn, and Edward Harvey, regional project planner at the Franklin Regional Council of Governments, to interview as well.

The interviews will take place Wednesday at the following times: Szlosek, 9 a.m.; Shea-Sullivan, 10:30 a.m.; Arthur, 2 p.m.; Harvey, 3:30 p.m.; Sheridan, 5 p.m. On Thursday, Manzi will interview at 5 p.m. and Kleman will interview at 6:30 p.m.

The interviews are all in the second floor meeting room at Town Hall and are open to the public.

“We’ve come up with a long list of questions to ask and that will be available to people at the meetings,” Cauley said.

He said it has not been decided if residents will have a chance to ask questions of the applicants.

The Select Board directed the committee to interview semifinalists and bring the board a list of three finalists.

Then the board will interview them again before selecting the new administrator.

The position has been vacant since July 2011.
