Open house set in Shutesbury
The annual open house at the 1842 West Schoolhouse in Shutesbury will take place Oct. 14 from 1 to 3 p.m. Guests will be able to see old textbooks, wall maps and many other items found in schoolhouses of that time.
The event will be hosted by Barbara Goodhind, chairman of the Shutesbury Historical Commission.
Since the West Schoolhouse, located at the intersection of West Pelham and Leverett roads, has no heat or electricity, guests are asked to dress accordingly in the event of chilly weather.
Goodhind said the historical commission continues to collect photos, stories and artifacts related to the town’s history. For more information, she can be reached at 259-1428. Other members of the commission include Julie Taylor, Marilyn Tibbetts, Leslie Bracebridge, Karen Czerwonka, Steve Puffer and Joanna Hayes.
