Friday’s high schools: Belchertown boys lacrosse beats Monson
Alex Wordsworth (assist) scored a game-high four goals as the Belchertown boys lacrosse team cruised past Monson 12-2 Friday on the road.
Matt Parent scored three goals with Jordan Auffrey (two assists), Alex Bachand (two assists), Jason Krasinkiewicz (assist), Aaron Krasinkiewicz (assist), Austin Duhaime, Mark Arian and Jacob Downs each adding another for the Orioles (3-4, 2-2 Valley).
Connor Hughes recorded an assist.
Travis Greeley made seven saves and also added an assist.
Belchertown 18, St. Mary’s 8 — Kayla Panek scored five times to help power the Orioles (5-3, 4-2 Valley) to the road win.
Emma Jopson followed her up with three goals and Kate Bowers, Chloe Zinter and Audrey Duhaime each added two.
Meg Foley, Kat Lowe, Natalie Caney and Julia Sammataro each scored once and Abbey Norden made nine saves on 17 shots in goal.
East Longmeadow 19. Holyoke Catholic 6 — Liz Klejna scored three times, but the Gaels (2-3) fell at home.
Liz Cavanaugh added two goals, Rita Hannoush scored once and Jessica Cavanaugh recored two assists.
Katie Klejna made 14 saves.
Amherst 9, Chicopee 6 — Ty Peake (three RBIs) and Asher Young (two runs, RBI) each had three hits, while Jose Cabrera (run, RBI) added two hits as the Hurricanes (6-1) cruised at home.
Jaimon Olmsted and Issac Burke each had a hit, run and an RBI.
Jamie Carey struck out eight in the win, while Alec Snyder-Fair earned the save.
Granby 19, McCann Tech 3(5) — Brandon Cloutier broke the game open with a two-run home run in the second as the Rams (5-2, 3-0 Tri-County North) cruised to the five-inning home win.
Zach Funk struck out six, walked two and allowed three runs on three hits for the win. He also added to his own cause with two hits.
Shane O’Connor added three hits and an RBI.
Smith Academy 5, Westfield Voke 1 — John Ferrara made his first start a memorable.
The Falcon eighth-grader had a no-hitter through five as Smith (8-1, 3-1 Tri-County North) rolled in Hatfield. Ferrara struck out six and walked five and departed after the first three runners reached in the top of the sixth. Keith Natale earned the save in relief.
Smith only had two hits — Kevin Banas’ RBI single and and a double by Steve Bruscoe, who also scored a run.
Granby 13, Central 3 — Tessa Cote struck out 11 in a complete-game effort for the Rams (4-1, 3-1 Bi-County West) in their road win.
Cote allowed three runs on six hits and three walks while also collecting a hit and two RBIs.
Noelle Menard went 2-for-4 with two runs, Alex White had a hit, an RBI and four walks and Brooke Labrie had an RBI double and three runs.
Frontier Regional 8, Greenfield 2 — Krystal Enko got more offensive support than she needed as the Red Hawks rolled in South Deerfield.
Enko didn’t allow a hit until the fifth and struck out 11 without walking a batter.
Cassidy Stankowski had three hits, scored twice and led off the bottom of the first with a solo home run that cleared the fence down the left-field line.
Gwen Thayer added a double and scored twice, while McKayla Poissant had an RBI double and scored a run.
