The Granby boys basketball team raced out to a 27-point halftime lead and went on to a 79-66 home win over Belchertown in the Bi-County North opener for both teams Friday night.

The unbeaten Rams (7-0, 1-0) received 26 points from Corey Baker. Jesse Molin (seven rebounds, five assists) scored 16 points and Andy Gifford added 15 in the win. Liam Galloway had eight boards and four assists.

Eric Adzima poured in a career-high 30 points, with 27 coming in the second half to lead a comeback attempt for the Orioles (3-3, 0-1). Zach Parsons added 21 in the loss.

South Hadley 57, Chicopee Comp 35 — TJ Fitzell scored a game-high 15 points as the Tigers (4-2) cruised to home.

Anthony Bullough and Griffin Fitzell added 10 points apiece for South Hadley, which gave up just 17 points through three quarters.

Palmer 55, Hampshire Regional 46 — The Raiders kept it close throughout, but couldn’t quite close the gap in their Bi-County North opener at home.

Shane Andrews had 16 points to lead Hampshire (2-3, 0-1). Matt Labrie added a career-high 11 points, while Conor Cronin had 14 rebounds to go with his six points.

Girls basketball

Belchertown 60, McCann 15 — The Orioles outscored the Hornets 31-1 in the second half, shaking off the rust of a 14-day layoff with an easy win at home.

Marissa Kopacz led Belchertown (4-2) with 16 points and eight rebounds. Téa Spellacy added 13 points, while Jillian Cavanaugh had 11 rebounds to go with her six points.

Easthampton 64, Pioneer Regional 19 — Elizabeth Whitney and Ashley Sharp had double-doubles to lead the Eagles (7-1) to a blowout home win.

Whitney scored 12 points and pulled down a team-high 13 rebounds. Sharp had 11 points and 10 boards, while Kristen Windoloski put in a game-best 13 points with four 3-pointers.

Palmer 49, Holyoke Catholic 27 — The Panthers took a 20-9 halftime lead and continued to pull away throughout.

Danielle Easton had 10 rebounds four assists to go with her four points for Catholic (3-4), while Kyra Robins was the Gaels’ top scorer with seven points.

Gateway Regional 35, Smith Vocational 12 — Brooke Fairman scored a game-high 14 points for the Gators (3-2, 3-1 Tri-County) in the road victory.

Chelsi Derrig added five points for Gateway, which allowed one point in the second quarter and none in the third.

Madeline Spencer-Orrell led the Vikings (1-4, 1-3) with five points.

Hampshire Regional 63, Southwick 12 — Sarah Kober scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the road win for the Raiders (5-2).

Kober’s double-double, which came in limited action, was her seventh in a row. Katy O’Connor, an eighth-grader, had 13 boards with her 12 points for her first career double-double.

Frontier Regional 56, Mohawk Regional 25 — The Warriors had no answer for Amanda Calvo, who shot 9 for 15 from the floor in her 20-point effort to lead the Red Hawks in Buckland.

Olivia Riordan added eight rebounds and seven points for Frontier (3-3, 3-3 Franklin).

Hopkins Academy 54, Greenfield 26 — Mackenzie Sullivan had 16 points, Olivia Mathieu added 12 and Maddi Stevens chipped in with 10 as the Golden Hawks (5-3, 5-1 Franklin South) cruised on the road.

Hockey

Agawam 7, Belchertown 0 — Kyle Mikulski made 40 saves, but the Orioles (0-6-1, 0-3-1 Fay) fell to the top team in western Mass. at the Olympia.
