Thursday’s American Legion recaps: Easthampton slips past Northampton Post 28

Justin Edinger enjoyed a perfect night at the plate and scored a pair of runs to lead the Easthampton American Legion baseball team to a 4-1 home victory over Northampton King & Cushman Post 28 Thursday evening.

The catcher went 3 for 3 with two stolen bases. Nick Batchelder delivered a two-run single, while Nick Grise picked up an RBI on a squeeze bunt. Hunter Leveille (single) and Brandon Weyant scored a run apiece.

Dan Baldwin gave up only one earned run on five hits over six innings to earn the win.

Post 28 (6-11) scored first in the top of the second when Christian Smiarowski singled in Ben O’Connor, who had doubled. Keith Natale added two hits.

Smiarowski allowed just one earned run on four hits in 32/3 innings.

East Springfield 10, Belchertown 0 — Brendan Roach and Jon Mastalerz each hit a double for Post 239 (4-13) in the home shutout loss.

T.J. Masella added a hit for Belchertown.
