Tuesday’s high schools: Northampton baseball comes from behind twice to beat West Springfield

The Northampton baseball team came back twice against West Springfield to pull out a 5-3 victory Tuesday in Northampton.

David Konowitch’s two-out, two-strike, two-run single off a hanging curveball plated the deciding runs in a three-run sixth inning for Hamp (4-5).

Joe Warner worked a 1-2-3 seventh for the save. Mack Hale pitched 12∕3 innings of relief for the win. Hale worked out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the fifth to keep the game tied at 2-2. The Terriers (3-4) took a 3-2 lead in the sixth.

Jay Wright singled, stole second then took third on a throwing error to start the bottom of the sixth.

A Zack Goodwin-Boyd grounder scored Wright. Robbie Logue reached on a fielder’s choice then RJ Ramsden followed with an infield hit. Both players moved to third on a wild pitch before Konowitch’s hit.

Wright’s two-run double in the third tied the game at 2-2.
