Monday’s girls volleyball: Belchertown wins in five sets
Belchertown 3, East Longmeadow 2 — The Orioles (4-5) came back after dropping the first game to earn the road victory, 22-25, 25-23, 25-19, 14-25, 15-8.
Erica Kamins had 18 assists for Belchertown, Caroline Dziel had 35 digs, while Erin McMorrow added seven kills and a pair of blocks.
Easthampton 3, Commerce 0 — Senior Elizabeth Whitney had five kills and two aces as the Eagles (8-1) cruised to a 25-11, 25-20, 25-17 victory in Springfield.
Sam Coss finished with four kills and three aces, while Kate Avard added six assists and two aces.
Frontier Regional 3, Franklin Tech 0 — Despite missing Cassidy Stankowski, who is rehabilitating a leg injury, the Red Hawks rolled over Franklin Tech, 25-11, 25-8, 25-7 in Turners Falls.
According to Frontier coach Sean McDonald, “Stankowski’s injury isn’t serious and we’re trying to keep it that way.”
He added that she’s unlikely to play Saturday against Notre Dame of Hingham in the showcase at the Volleyball Hall of Fame in Holyoke.
Sarah Woodward led Frontier (9-0) with eight kills. Emily Contois added seven assists and Julia Wan had nine aces and four kills.
Amherst Regional 3, Turners Falls 1 — Behind eight kills, seven digs and two aces from Athena Donta, the Hurricanes earned a win on the road, 25-22, 25-12, 18-25, 25-19.
Cassie Long added 19 digs for Amherst (5-5). Justine Bohl had 17 assists and six digs, while Haley Parker had six kills, five blocks and seven aces.
Sabis 3, South Hadley 0 — The Tigers (4-3) were swept in Springfield, 25-15, 25-19, 25-17.
Shanel De Los Santos had five digs, three kills and two aces for South Hadley. Maddie Kelleher added five digs and three kills.
