Northampton police log
■ David N. Boivin Jr., 21, of 76 Swanzy Factory Road in Keene, N.H., was arrested Sunday at 5:42 a.m. on Atwood Drive on a warrant out of Northampton District Court, according to police.
■ Thomas Beckwith, 52, of 5 Desrosiers St. in Springfield, and Serena Gabriella Desantis, 33, of 119 Lynwood Drive Apt. C in Chicopee, were each arrested on a charge of shoplifting by concealing merchandise Saturday at 12:57 p.m. on Main Street. Police said Beckwith and Desantis allegedly stole a pair of jeans from Ode, a women’s clothing and accessories store. It was Beckwith’s second offense and Desantis’s third offense on the shoplifting charge, according to police.
■ Police plan to file charges against a 66-year-old city man who allegedly set his mattress on fire at Northampton Lodging at 129 Pleasant St. on Saturday at around 8 a.m. Police said the fire was out when they arrived and the mattress heavily burned. The man suffered minor burns and was taken to Cooley Dickinson Hospital by ambulance to be treated, according to police.
■ Daniel Cruz, 40, of 319 South St. in Northampton, was arrested Friday at 2:31 p.m. on Locust Street on a charge of disorderly conduct (subsequent offense), and on a warrant out of Hampshire Superior Court for a probation violation. Police said they responded to a report of Cruz standing in front of vehicles in traffic and yelling near the Department of Public Works headquarters. Police said they made several unsuccessful attempts to calm Cruz and have him move from the road before placing him under arrest.
