Todd Dostal of Hatfield ordered held on $1,000 bail after denying he threatened officer with a rifle
NORTHAMPTON — A 31-year-old Hatfield man was ordered held on $1,000 bail after denying Tuesday in Northampton District Court that he threatened a police officer with a rifle and other weapons charges.
Todd O. Dostal, of 8 Circle Drive, pleaded not guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, intimidation of a witness, improper storage of a firearm and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.
According to court records, Hatfield police officer Tiffany MacDougall arrived at Dostal’s home about 5:20 p.m. Sunday for reports of gunshots being fired.
A witness told police that Dostal and some others had been target shooting on the property earlier that day.
Dostal came out of the house, pointed a rifle at MacDougall and told her to leave the property, and then went back inside, according to police.
The State Police Special Tactical and Operations (STOP) unit and a K9 unit were called to assist, according to state police.
About 40 minutes after the initial call, Dostal came out of the house unarmed and was taken into custody, police said.
According to state police, five firearms were recovered from his home — two pistols and three rifles.
Dostal is due back in court on Dec. 12 for a pre-trial hearing.
