Eduardo Adolfo Echavarria of New York drowns near Glendale Falls in Middlefield

Eduardo Adolfo Echavarria, 44, of Corona, N.Y., a borough of Queens, drowned in a “fast moving secondary branch of Glendale Falls,” on Sunday around 3 p.m., the DA’s office said in a statement. Echavarria and family members had been guests at a private residence in Middlefield when the accident occurred. Middlefield police and firefighters along with Massachusetts State Police responded to the scene.

Glendale Falls, which joins the middle branch of the Westfield River, is considered one of the longest and most powerful waterfall runs in the state, according to the Trustees of Reservations.
