Northampton homeowner interrupts burglar; police seeking suspect
NORTHAMPTON — A man returning home to Millbank Condominiums Tuesday afternoon apparently surprised a burglar in process of a robbery, and police are now looking for the suspect.
According to Northampton Police Capt. Scott A. Savino, the alleged victim returned home about 2 p.m. Tuesday and heard rustling noises coming from the back bedroom.
When the man opened the door he saw a male with a slim build, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, wearing a gray tank top and black basketball shorts with dark hair pulled into a ponytail rummaging through drawers in the bedroom.
The suspect apparently got into the house by removing an air conditioner that was in the window, police said.
The suspect left through the window and was last seen running toward a parking lot on Pleasant Street.
Police said some loose change and silver dollars were the only items reported missing.
