Weekend Planner — Clubs

As a child growing up in Wisconsin, Greenfield-based chanteuse Janice Dompke would listen to old records on a broken player her father showed her how to operate using a sewing needle and a rolled-up piece of paper. And while she’s had a varied career in musical theater and as a rock ‘n’ roll and rockabilly singer, her heart remains rooted in the standards — “Blues in the Night,” “I Only Have Eyes For You,” “Sentimental Journey” — that surrounded her during her formative years. On Saturday she’ll be at The Loft at the Clarion Hotel in Northampton where, accompanied by pianist Stephen Page and bassist George Kaye, she’ll present a program of ballads and blues. $10 minimum goes toward food and drink. 586-1211
