Area police news


• Police received a report at 8:18 a.m. Friday that the Overlook at Northampton sign and two traffic signs nearby on River Road in Leeds had been vandalized with spray paint.

e_SBlt Zachary G. Johnson, 21, of Bernardston, refused medical treatment after the vehicle he was driving went off Westhampton Road (Route 66) in Florence and struck a utility pole at 1:59 p.m. Thursday. The pole snapped in half and had to be replaced, police said,

• Travers J. Curtis, 28, of 56 South Plain Road, Sunderland, was treated and released from Cooley Dickinson Hospital after an accident on King Street at 1:47 p.m. Thursday. Police said Curtis was driving north on King Street when a vehicle driven by Heather Boudreau, 20, of West Suffield, Conn., pulled out in front of him from the Northampton Cooperative Bank driveway and their cars collided. Boudreau was cited for failing to use care in starting.

e_SBlt Frank Diaz, 46, of 241 Jackson St., Apt. 16-D, was arrested at his apartment complex at 12:31 p.m. Thursday on a charge of assault and battery after he allegedly pushed his girlfriend, causing her to fall over a trash can.
