Weekend planner — art
Did you know that the Graham cracker was invented by Northampton’s Sylvester Graham as part of a health food diet intended to suppress carnal urges leading to self-abuse? We hope not. In any case, such a fact is at best tangentially related to the Graham Cracker Festival Art Contest sponsored by Sylvester’s Restaurant and set to take place Sunday at Historic Northampton. Rules: 1. Artwork must be mounted onto 11” x 14” foam core. 2. Artwork must contain at least one Graham cracker. 3. Artwork must be for table display or for hanging. 4. Artwork must be brought to Historic Northampton between 2-2:45 for judging (age groups: grades K-5; grades 6-8; and grades 9 and up). 5. You must be present at 3 p.m. to win. First prize is a $50 gift certificate for Sylvester’s, with $10 certificates for two runners-up.
The event will feature music by the Florence Community Band, games by A2Z Science and Learning Store and viewing of exhibits at Historic Northampton.
Historic Northampton is at 46 Bridge St. Liz Ryan at email@example.com for information.
