High-octane gasoline has been stolen on a couple of occasions from airplanes conducting spraying operations against gypsy moths in the area, police have reported. The planes are kept nights at Atwood Airport, which has been taken by the state for part of the proposed interstate Route 91.

The final regular meeting of the Hampshire County Mothers of Twins Club was held Monday night with election of new officers as follows: President, Mrs. Neal Soutra; vice president, Mrs. Edwin Smith; secretary, Mrs. William Patterson; treasurer, Mrs. Carl Gutowski.

Northampton’s gay and lesbian march down Main Street, culminating with a rally at Pulaski Park, has lost none of its attraction since the first time it was held seven years ago. Hundreds of people lined the parade route Saturday, stopping for a moment under a brilliant sky to watch as marchers of all ages walked by.

Amherst officials will move ahead with plans to develop affordable housing at the Cherry Hill Golf Course property after gaining overwhelming support from Town Meeting last night. Reaffirming its controversial taking last year of the golf course by eminent domain, Town Meeting last night unequivocally demonstrated its commitment to the property with two separate votes.

Mayor Clare Higgins delivered a sobering budget plan Thursday that eliminates 58 jobs, merges departments, freezes wages, cuts employee hours and uses $1.2 million of the city’s reserve fund. Her proposal includes the elimination of 43 school-related positions and 15 additional city jobs.

A federal judge Thursday rejected a bid by 10 high school seniors that they be allowed to graduate even though they failed the state’s MCAS exam. The students, including one from Northampton, and their lawyers claim that linking a diploma to passage of the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System exam violates their constitutional rights.
