Wednesday crash sends driver to hospital
NORTHAMPTON — Police are investigating a Wednesday morning car crash that sent a South Hadley man to the hospital.
According to police, about 11:30 a.m. a 2010 Honda driven by Brian Darnold, 28, of 53 Amherst Road, left the road near the underpass over Market and North streets and struck a guardrail that then went through one of the vehicle’s windows.
Darnold was taken to Cooley Dickinson Hospital. As of 4 p.m. he was still being treated in the emergency department, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
According to police, Darnold may have fallen asleep behind the wheel prior to the collision.
No charges or citations had been filed as of Wednesday afternoon.

∎ Joseph Kyle Lunetta, 19, of Hanover, and Emmette Jack O’Connor, 18, of Westfield, were arrested Saturday at 7:53 p.m. on Russell Street near Chili’s Grill & Bar.
Lunetta was charged with being a minor in possession of alcohol and assisting a person under the age of 21 to purchase alcohol.
O’Connor was charged with being a minor transporting alcohol.
∎ Rick White, 31, of River Drive, was arrested Sunday at 1 a.m. on charges of domestic assault and battery.
∎ Mirran Raphaely, 39, of 16 Dickinson St., Amherst, was arrested Tuesday at 12:25 p.m. on Russell Street near the Courtyard by Marriot on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license.
Northampton
∎ Rafael Enrique Velez, 42, of Chicopee, was arrested about 4:13 p.m. Tuesday at the Wal-Mart on North King Street on a charge of larceny over $250. According to police, Velez was stopped trying to leave the store with a car stereo valued at $334.
∎ Edward John Moczydlowski, 46, of 108 East St., Easthampton, was arrested at 1:59 p.m. Tuesday at Main and Center streets on a Northampton District Court warrant related to charge of criminal harassment, police said.

∎ Jiming Tian, 30, of 990 North Pleasant St., Unit J21, was arrested Tuesday at 12:26 a.m. at an Amherst home on a charge of domestic assault and battery.
∎ Amanda Schleicher, 18, of Norton, was arrested Saturday at 2:05 a.m. on Thatcher Road on a charge of domestic assault and battery.
∎ Andrew Catalano, 19, of Wakefield, was arrested Saturday at 12:07 a.m. on University Drive on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
∎ James Kapsidis, 22, of Newton Center, was arrested Feb. 28 at 4:58 p.m. in Lot 50 off John Adams Road on a charge of selling or delivering alcohol to a minor.
