Wednesday’s prep schools: Deerfield Academy sweeps individual skiing titles

Deerfield Academy swept the individual titles following the Mount Institute Ski League’s final race of the season at Berkshire East in Charlemont Wednesday.

Lauren Stobierski won the Amy Spenser Cup with 315 points to take the girls title. Dylan Alvarez won the boys championship with 420 points.

Northfield Mount Hermon won the girls team title with 45 points. Deerfield was second with 38 and Williston fourth with 30.

Deerfield took the boys championship with 59 points. Williston was fifth with 40.

In the final girls slalom race, Alexa Murray of Deerfield was fifth with a one-run time of 44.03 seconds.

Alvarez was first with a one-run time of 35.67.

Girls basketball

Williston 52, Miss Porter’s 22 — Natalia Ovando had 11 points, while Gabby Thomas of Florence added eight as the Wildcats (9-9) won on the road.

Elizabeth Calderone of Whately had eight rebounds and six points in the win.

Boys hockey

Albany Academy 6, Williston 2 — Brandon Borges (assist) and Tom Walsh each scored but the Wildcats fell at home.

Girls hockey

Williston 3, Deerfield 0 — Christina Zalewski scored twice and Alex Starzyk had one tally as the Wildcats won on the road.

Boys squash

Williston 5, Kingswood-Oxford 2 — David Fay of South Hadley and Oliver Demers of Easthampton won their matches as the Wildcats (4-9) won on the road.

Girls squash

Kingswood-Oxford 4, Williston 3 — Devon Greenwood of Easthampton won her final match at home for the Wildcats (3-7).
