Jury selection complete in Cara Lee Rintala murder trial; opening arguments to begin Wednesday morning
NORTHAMPTON — The selection of the 16th and final juror Tuesday clears the way for the slaying trial of Cara Lee Rintala to begin today.
Rintala, 46, has pleaded not guilty to a charge of murder in connection with the strangling and beating death of her wife, Annamarie Cochrane Rintala, 37, in the couple’s Granby home March 29, 2010.
Jury selection began Feb. 11. Sixteen jurors were needed to provide a full panel of 12 and four alternates.
The trial is expected to last up to four weeks. Rintala faces a sentence of life in prison if convicted.
