Chauncey Kyles of Hadley hurt, faces charges after Thursday crash on North Elm Street in Northampton
NORTHAMPTON — A Hadley man was hospitalized and faces criminal charges after crashing his car into a tree on North Elm Street Thursday night.
Chauncey Kyles, 27, of 21 Campus Plaza Road, Apt. 18, will be summoned to court on charges of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, according to police.
About 10:20 p.m., police responded to 98 North Elm St. and found the 2010 Nissan he was allegedly operating had left the road while traveling south, struck a tree stump and continued until hitting a large tree and coming to a stop.
According to police, when they arrived they found Kyles in the back seat of the car “in and out of responsiveness,” before being treated and transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield where he was treated and released, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
