Area police news
■ Christopher Franklin McCracken, 25, of 700 Riverglade Drive, Unit F, was arrested Monday at 3 p.m. at an Amherst home on a charge of violating an abuse prevention order and trespassing.
■ Emily Rose Whalen, 21, of 50 Meadow St., Unit 58, was arrested Sunday at 2:14 a.m. on Main Street on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
Whalen’s vehicle went off the road in front of the police station, destroyed four parking meters and traveled 25 feet on the sidewalk before coming to a stop, police said. Whalen and her two passengers were not injured, police said.
■ Police responded to a reported break-in on Greenleaves Drive Saturday at 11:04 p.m. A window screen was cut to gain entry to the residence, where a large amount of jewelry was taken. The suspect is believed to have fled into the woods and nearby Norwottuck Rail Trail, police said.
■ Ryan Gamble, 30, of 166 East Hadley Road, Unit 4, was arrested Friday at 10:11 p.m. at an Amherst home on a charge of assault and battery on a pregnant woman and intimidating a witness. The woman didn’t require medical attention, police said.
■ Adam Gamble, 29, of 166 East Hadley Road, Unit 4, was arrested Friday at 10:12 a.m. at home on a warrant.
■ James R. Bergeron, 27, of Palmer, was arrested Jan. 10 at 10:18 a.m. on South Street on a charge of possessing a class A drug.
■ John Paul Francis Vanasse, 30, of 5 Eastman Lane, Amherst, was arrested Dec. 31 at 8:35 p.m. at a Belchertown home on a charge of violating an abuse prevention order.
■ Matthew J. Stevens, 25, of 11 Highland Ave., was arrested Sunday at 7:42 p.m. at the Public Safety Complex on a warrant.
■ Bridgette O. Sullivan, 26, of Holyoke, was arrested on East Street Sunday at 2:21 a.m. on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. During the same traffic stop, Jeffrey J. Newsome, 23, of 12 Ballard St., was summoned to court to face charges of operating a motor vehicle with a license suspended for operating under the influence.
■ Stephanie MacLean, 20, of 127 Potwine Lane, Amherst, was arrested Monday at 5:35 p.m. at the Super Stop & Shop in the Campus Shopping Plaza on a charge of shoplifting after she left the store without paying for $113.47 in food items, police said.
∎ A caller reported Tuesday at 6:49 a.m. that someone had broken into his van during the night while it was parked on Pine Street in Florence. Power tools were taken from the van, but there was no estimate of their value.
■ Joyce C. Mazeski, 50, 235 Florence Road, was arrested Monday at 9:01 p.m. at home on three counts of domestic assault and battery. Mazeski called the police to her home saying that her husband had become physically violent, but upon arrival, police learned Mazeski had struck her husband several times before he shoved her, police said.
■ A Holyoke Street resident reported Monday at 8:38 p.m. that someone has been periodically sneaking onto his property and stealing an estimated $200 worth of scrap metal from his yard.
■ Joseph R. Smargie, 32, 44 Evergreen Road, Apt. 201, Leeds, was arrested Monday at 5:23 p.m. on Evergreen Road on a Northampton District Court warrant related to unpaid fines, police said.
■ Benjamin Solomon Boliver, 34, whose address is listed as the streets of Northampton, was arrested Monday at 3:57 p.m. on Main Street on a Northampton District Court warrant related to unpaid fines, police said.
■ Andre Campbell, 22, of Chicopee, was arrested about 5:32 a.m. Monday at King Street and Damon Road on charges of domestic assault and battery, domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (door), intimidation of a witness, threatening to commit a crime, larceny over $250 and malicious destruction of property under $250. According to police, the alleged victim reported that she was assaulted by Campbell after an argument over a Facebook post escalated.
■ Anthony Deven, 33, of 5 College Highway, was arrested at home Dec. 31 at 11:11 p.m. on charges of domestic assault and battery after police said he pushed and hit his wife.
