Tree falls on Route 141

The tree fell in front of a vehicle heading from Holyoke to Easthampton at about 4 p.m., though it did not hit the car and caused no injuries, an Easthampton dispatcher said.

Traffic from Holyoke to Easthampton was detoured by Holyoke Police for nearly two hours as the Department of Public Works cleared the tree from the road. The tree was 8 to 10 inches in diameter.

The detour caused a backlog of cars down Route 141 into Holyoke. Vehicles traveling from Easthampton to Holyoke were not detoured.
