Northampton junior, senior football teams win Super Bowls

Two Northampton youth football teams won Super Bowls Sunday at Cronk Field in Belchertown.

The juniors (5th and 6th) beat Greenfield 22-0 while the seniors (7th and 8th) beat Wilbraham 28-8.

It was the seniors’ (8-1) second consecutive Super Bowl win.

Elisha Davis and Matt Channell led the running game for the senior Blue Devils.

Jarred Leavins was a standout at defensive end for Hamp.

The Blue Devil junior squad (10-0) got a 15-yard rushing touchdown and a 12-yard reception for a score from Ryan Long.

Luke Melcher, filling in at quarterback, threw for the score. Melcher had 18 touchdowns as a running back on the year.

Quinton Ciserio raced 50 yard for score for Hamp.

Devontay Edwards and Troy Renner played well along the defensive line while Eugene Rentas made some plays in the secondary.

The juniors gave up only six points the entire season while scoring 250.
