Friday’s high schools: Krystel Enko strikes out 23 in Frontier 11-inning win over Taconic

For 11 innings, Frontier Regional softball pitcher Krystel Enko kept sending Taconic batters directly from the plate to the dugout Friday in South Deerfield.

Enko struck out 23, allowed zero earned runs on four hits and one walk before the Red Hawks scored in the bottom of the 11th for a 4-3 victory over Taconic.

“She got stronger as the game went on,” Frontier coach Carrie Fydenkevez said. “I was a little concerned, but in the eighth, ninth, 10th, she was probably stronger than she was in the first few innings.”

Sarah Toomey gave Frontier a 3-1 lead in the sixth with an RBI double to score Hamelin, but Taconic (2-12) took advantage of a seventh-inning error to score twice and force extras.
