Kelly Avard delivered a two-run double in the top of the ninth to give the Easthampton softball team a 6-4 extra-inning road win over Southwick to keep its unbeaten start alive.

Caelin Motter pitched all nine innings for the Eagles (3-0, 3-0 Bi-County West), allowing the four earned runs on 10 hits and a walk, while striking out one.

Molly Cabana recorded a game-high four hits, drove in three and scored a run, while Amanda Lambert added three hits and scored two runs.

Hampshire 6, Frontier 0 — Ashlee McGan threw a complete-game shutout to keep the Raiders (3-0, 3-0 Franklin) undefeated on the season, finishing with four strikeouts while allowing four hits and two walks.

Krystel Enko, who gave up six hits and six walks while striking out four, took the loss for the Red Hawks (1-2, 1-2 Franklin).

Bri Weltlich (double, two RBIs) and Danielle McGan (double, RBI) paced Hampshire, while Ally Hamelin recorded two hits for Frontier.

Amherst Regional 16, Ludlow 4 — Becca Carkhuff had two hits, including a home run, with three RBIs and two runs scored as the Hurricanes (1-3) won at home.

Justine Bohl went 3-for-3 with an RBI, while Jazzy Moonstone was 2-for-2 with two walks, three runs scored and two RBIs.

Ally Faulstick went the distance, allowing four hits and striking out six.

Hopkins 8, Mohawk 6 — Savannah Ring had a triple and three RBIs as the Golden Hawks (2-0, 2-0 Franklin) won at home.

Allison LaClair picked up the win, allowing three runs on three hits while striking out two over seven innings.

Nicole Morrison (2-for-4, double) and Lacey Waskiewicz each had an RBI.

Belchertown 1, Longmeadow 0 — Erica Boileau’s fifth-inning single to right was the game-winner for the Orioles (4-1) on the road.

Samantha Manitsas allowed four hits and struck out six in the win.

Téa Spellacy had the lone other hit for Belchertown.

Holyoke Catholic 7, Sabis 4 — Megan Logan starred in the circle and at the plate as the Gaels (2-2, 1-2 Bi-County East) won on the road.

She struck out 10 in a complete-game performance, and went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI.

Krista Jasak also was 3-for-4 with a run scored, while Sydney Brosseau (RBI) and Lindsey Robins (run) added a hit each.

Smith Academy 19, McCann Tech 5 (5) — The Falcons (3-1, 2-1 Bi-County West) scored three or more runs in every inning in the mercy rule-shortened game at home.

Brooke Pashek led the offensive onslaught with three hits and four RBIs. Cassidy Snyder had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and knocked in a pair.

Alanah McLear drove in three runs, while Amanda Binette (two hits) and Olivia Cavanaugh had two RBIs apiece. Miranda Wendolowski (two hits), Lauren Grondin and Kayla Miastowski each added an RBI.

Grondin gave up just three hits in five innings of work.

Gateway Regional 14, Ware 8 — The Gators (1-1, 1-1 Bi-County West) scored 13 runs in the last five innings to overcome a six-run deficit in the road win.

Arielle Baillargeon knocked in four runs for Gateway, while Brooke Fairman picked up a complete-game victory.

Baseball

Amherst Regional 9, Belchertown 0 — Asher Young needed only 83 pitches to throw a complete-game two-hit shutout for the Hurricanes (2-1) on the road.

Young struck out five and walked just one for Amherst. Django Ellenhorn picked up a pair of hits and drove in a run, while Jaimon Olmstead knocked in two with a hit, scored once and stole a base.

Justin Carey doubled with one RBI, one run and a stolen base, while Jamie Carey (hit, stolen base) and Jose Cabrera (hit, run) had an RBI apiece. Jack Schrader scored twice with a hit and a stolen base.

Tommy Daley and Steve Boudreau had the hits for the Orioles (0-4). Jim Kusnierz struck out three in 31∕3 innings pitched.

Agawam 7, Northampton 4 — Zack Goodwin-Boyd went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs in the independent home loss for the Blue Devils (3-2).

Ben Christopher had two hits, scored twice and knocked in a run for Hamp, which trailed 7-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh but ended up bringing the tying run to the plate.

Freshman Hunter Salem allowed three earned runs on four hits with five strikeouts in four-plus innings.

Gateway 6, Hampshire 5 — John Haskell had a hit and two RBIs as the Gators (1-1, 1-0 Bi-County) mounted a seventh-inning comeback for the win on the road.

Curtis Dowers tossed a complete game for the victory, allowing five hits, walking six and striking out six, while Justin Edinger had an RBI and run.

Dan Baldwin took the loss for the Raiders (0-2, 0-1 Bi-County), striking out five in 61∕3.

Eddie Hagelstein recorded two hits, scored two runs and drove in one.

Frontier 14, Mahar 2 — Rylan Baronas drove in five runs on two doubles as the Red Hawks (2-0, 1-0 Hampshire) cruised to the home victory.

Both runs were unearned for Pete Watroba, who went the distance, allowing three hits, striking out five and walking none.

Eddie Tsai (3-for-5, two RBIs, 2 stolen bases), Niko Ames (2-for-4, two RBIs, three runs, two stolen bases), Ryan Hoar (3-for-5, two RBIs, two stolen bases) and Sean Doyle (1-for-2, three runs, two stolen bases).

Greenfield 6, Hopkins Academy 2 — Ethan Wenner had a double, a triple and an RBI, but the Golden Hawks (1-2) lost on the road.

Brett Morrison and Andrew Omer each added two hits in the defeat.

Evan Delaney went the distance in the loss, allowing seven hits while striking out seven.

Mohawk 6, Easthampton 4 — Shy Torres blasted two home runs, one in the third and one in the sixth, but it wasn’t enough as the Eagles (1-1, 0-1 Hampshire) lost at home.

Austin Crow threw a complete game, letting up 10 hits and two walks while striking out one.

Palmer 10, Holyoke Catholic 7 — Nick Limoges had a triple and three RBIs, but the Gaels (0-3, 0-1 Bi-County) fell on the road.

Tim Orzechowski took the loss, allowing eight earned runs on nine hits and two walks in 41∕3 innings, while also recording two hits and an RBI.

Tyler Cox and Jeff Laprade each added two hits and Evan Daigle had an RBI.

Girls lacrosse

Northampton 13, Amherst Regional 9 — Molly King scored five goals with three assists as the Blue Devils (4-2) earned a home victory.

Kerry Fleming had three goals, while Missie Maiewski (assist), Hunter Zackaricz (assist), Leila Kouakou, Marissa Pellegrino and Emily Biggs added a tally apiece. Emily Poehlein chipped in an assist.

Sarah Mangels led the Hurricanes with six goals plus an assist. Leah Goldman had a goal and an assist, while Addie Gamliel and Taylor Bartmon each added a goal and Meghan Sharick an assist.

Dana Dufour (two saves) and Bridget Harrington (one) each played a half in the win for Hamp. Katie Dunn stopped eight shots for Amherst.

Boys volleyball

Chicopee Comp 3, Belchertown 0 — Caleb Bernard had four kills, two blocks and two digs as the Orioles (2-4, 0-2 North) fell in straight sets, 25-14, 25-20 and 25-18.

Nick Wallace had eight assists and nine digs and Colter Krzcuik had five digs, two aces and a kill.
