Wednesday’s high schools: Emily Allcroft scores 4 goals, Northampton field hockey tops Smith Academy 5-1
Emily Allcroft scored four times, including three in a dominant second half, as the Northampton field hockey team defeated Smith Academy 5-1 at home Wednesday.
Allcroft and Falcons’ standout Danielle Duseau each scored in the first half, but the Blue Devils (8-1-2) pulled away with four unanswered goals after halftime.
Kerry Fleming added once goal for Northampton. Emily Biggs, Missie Maiewski and Alex Dibrindisi were credited with one assist each.
Dana Dufour made nine saves for Hamp, while Lauren Bradford and Kayla Miastkowski combined for 12 for the Falcons (6-4-1).
Amherst Regional 6, Cathedral 1 — Marion Carr (assist) and Julia O’Connell each scored twice as the Hurricanes (3-7) cruised at home.
Georgia Nichols (assist) and Shannon Herbert added one goal apiece.
Nadia Squitero made one save in the win.
Frontier Regional 6, Athol 0 — Rose Moscaritolo posted a hat trick for the Red Hawks (7-1-1) in the win at home.
McKayla Poissant (assist), McKenzie Patterson (two assists) and Tierney Roche had a goal apiece for Frontier. They were the first varsity points for Patterson and Roche.
Taryn Marquis added an assist, while Gwen Thayer made one save in the shutout.
Agawam 4, South Hadley 1 — Taylor Guertin scored from Lexi Methot, but the Tigers (3-8) couldn’t hold on to their halftime lead at home.
Sam Brault made 14 saves in the loss.
Hampshire Regional 6, Renaissance 0 — The Raiders (8-1-1) assured themselves a Division 3 tournament berth with the blowout win at home.
Anna Dziok, Liz Hotham, Chelsea Moussette, Catherine Hotham, Hope MacDonald and Sienna Caron scored a goal each for Hampshire. Caron, Savannah Waters, Kayla LaBrecque and Vanessa Groeber picked up an assist apiece.
Madison Boucher and LaBrecque each made one save in the victory.
Easthampton 3, Mohawk 0 — Maddie Grabowski and Brenna Mottor had a goal and an assist apiece to lead the Eagles (7-1-2) to a tournament-clinching road victory.
Gabby Downer also scored and Tierney George had an assist for Easthampton.
Alyssa Fugiel notched the shutout with five stops.
Amherst Regional 5, Hopkins Academy 0 — Sophie Marciano and Sage DeChiara scored twice apiece for the Hurricanes (4-3-2) in the independent home win.
Kailey Tobin added a tally for Amherst. Madison Fluekiger assisted on three goals, while Taylor Bartmon and Erin O’Connor had one assist each.
Becca Carkhuff (one save) and Antriese Suarez (one) each played a half in goal, while Kate Sullivan made seven stops for the Golden Hawks (5-6-1).
Smith Academy 0, Taconic 0 — Brooke Pashek made 14 saves as the Falcons (7-2-1) earned a point in Pittsfield.
McKenzie Wilson and Moira Pitrat played well for Smith Academy.
Granby 2, Athol 0 — Erin Mikalchus (goal, assist) and Kate Desormier (goal, assist) led the way and the Rams (9-0, 4-0 Pioneer North) clinched a playoff berth on the road.
Brittany Hauschild had six saves for Granby.
South Hadley 1, Holyoke 1 — Gigi Thibault’s first-half goal stood as the lone tally for the Tigers (5-3-2) in the draw at home.
Abby Lukasik made 17 saves for South Hadley.
Sabis 4, Frontier Regional 0 — Camilla Baronas turned aside 10 shots, but the Red Hawks (4-4-1) fell on the road.
Amherst Regional 3, Belchertown 0 — Shaya Shally-Jensen had 14 kills and two blocks as the Hurricanes (8-2) clinched a postseason berth with the 25-17, 25-17, 25-15 victory on the road.
Justin Bohl had 29 assists and seven digs, while Cassie Long contributed 15 digs and three aces.
Erin Reed-Coates had four kills and two blocks for the Orioles (4-7), while Erica Kamins finished with two aces and six assists.
Frontier Regional 3, Lee 1 — The Red Hawks (10-1) will compete for their ninth straight sectional title after clinching a tournament berth at home, 25-13, 25-13, 16-25, 25-6.
Sarah Woodward had 11 kills, Cassidy Ciesluk nine and Remi Quesnelle eight. Emily Woodward accounted for 34 assists in the win.
Turners Falls 3, Smith Vocational 0 — The Vikings (0-9) lost at home, 25-9, 25-13, 25-19.
Riley Lacaprucia had five assists and three digs to lead Smith Voke. Bailee Richardson had five assists and a pair of aces, while Nashaelid Cintron added three kills and an ace.
Minnechaug 4, Northampton 1 — Louie Jacob scored but the Blue Devils (1-9) fell at home to the Falcons.
Jacob was assisted by David Katz and Jon Brodeur had eight saves for Northampton.
Westfield 1, Amherst 0 — Matt Santana made six saves, but the Hurricanes (7-2-1) fell on the road to the Bombers.

Deerfield 1, Williston 0 — Olivia Berk-Krauss made 10 saves, but the Wildcats fell by a penalty kick with six minutes left in Easthampton.

Loomis Chaffee 17, Williston 12 — Ian Bowman (South Hadley) had four goals, while James Hatch added three but the Wildcats (2-4) fell at home.
Calvin Frye had two goals, while Matt Mei, David Fitch and Wilder Denholm each had one goal.
Deerfield 3, Williston 0 — Liz Calderone (Whately) had three kills and three aces, while Mary McCarthy added four kills and one block but the Wildcats (1-4) fell 25-22, 25-19, 25-11 at home.
