Nancy Gehrung sentenced to six years in jail after admitting to armed robberies in Northampton and Holyoke

Prosecutors asked Franklin Superior Court Judge Mary-Lou Rup to consider state prison time for Gehrung. After reviewing the case, Rup decided Gehrung would benefit more from the substance abuse and mental health treatment programs available at the Western Massachusetts Regional Women’s Correctional Center in Chicopee.

Gehrung also pleaded guilty to charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of liquor and operating a motor vehicle with a license suspended for operating under the influence resulting from an incident in May 2011.

Gehrung admitted to entering two homes in late December 2011 with a loaded Glock semi-automatic pistol and surprising the residents before fleeing.

Gehrung’s jail sentence will be followed by 10 years of probation.
