Valley Views: Local photographers aim their cameras outdoors

Route 5, South Deerfield

Photograph and text by Dot Barnard of North Hatfield

A little ice coating on trees makes for a dazzling image. On a day in December, I was pleased to find these berries on a tree near the employee entrance of Yankee Candle. The bright red color of the berries glistened with melting ice as I left work in the early afternoon. A photograph was in order.

This image was captured with a tripod-mounted digital SLR camera and a short telephoto macro lens.

Dot Barnard is affiliated with the Robert Floyd Photo Gallery, 2 East St., College Highway, Southampton. Other nature images are on view there Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 6 p.m.
