Monday’s high schools: Hampshire nips Monson for third straight win

Down one with 30 seconds left, Hampshire Regional’s Adam Laroche found Conor Cronin for the go-ahead layup.

Shane Andrews then added a free throw with two seconds left as the Raiders edged Monson 52-50 in boys basketball action Monday night in Westhampton.

Laroche scored 17 points, while Andrews had 12 for Hampshire (5-3), which has won three straight.

Cronin added 10 points, 15 rebounds and blocked five shots.

Northampton 84, New Leadership 79 — Trailing by 10 points halfway through the third quarter, the Blue Devils (8-2) went on a 17-4 run to end the quarter and take the lead en route to the road triumph.

Justin Burgos (six assists) led Hamp with 18 points, all in the second half. Jake Ross added 17 points, while Danny Mam and Tyler Hannigan-Page had career highs of 11 points apiece.

Granby 70, Palmer 62 — The Rams (9-1, 3-1 Bi-County North) exploded for 29 points in the final quarter to overcome a seven-point deficit in the road victory.

Corey Baker scored a game-high 23 points with eight rebounds for Granby, which moved within a win of securing a tournament berth.

Jesse Molin had a solid all-around performance with 17 points, six assists, five rebounds and three steals. Andy Gifford added 14 points while Liam Galloway added 12.

Southwick 50, Belchertown 46 — Zach Parsons had team highs of 16 points and 14 rebounds while adding three blocks, but the Orioles (3-5, 0-3 Bi-County North) lost on the road.

Eric Adzima (11) and James Ryan (10) also reached double figures for Belchertown.

Renaissance 90, Holyoke Catholic 37 — Ryan Lukomski led the Gaels (0-9, 0-3 Bi-County South) with 13 points in the loss in Springfield.

Jeff Laprade added 10 for Catholic, which fell behind by 20 after one quarter.

Ware 55, Gateway Regional 45 — The Gators led 37-36 after the third quarter, but the Indians dominated the fourth as Gateway fell at home.

Curtis Dowers had 18 points and eight rebounds for the Gators (1-9, 1-3 Bi-County South). Calvin Dowers scored 13 points, while Ryan Fisk had nine points and 11 rebounds.

Girls basketball

Frontier Regional 51, Smith Academy 21 — Amanda Calvo scored 16 points as the Red Hawks (5-5, 5-4 Franklin South) were victorious in Hatfield.

Jordan Rowe scored nine points and Olivia Riordan added eight in the win for Frontier, which led 14-2 after one quarter.

Katie Yagodzinski led the Falcons (2-8, 1-7) with nine points, while Ashley Higgins had seven points and 10 rebounds.

Hampshire Regional 70, Cathedral 39 — The Raiders led 17-9 after the first quarter and kept pulling away in Springfield.

Lauren Aldrich led Hampshire (8-2, 2-0 Bi-County East) with 16 points. Chelsea Moussette added 13 points, eight assists, six steals and four rebounds. Laura Whiteley had nine points and nine rebounds.

Mahar Regional 59, Easthampton 44 — The Senators hit nine 3-pointers en route to the win in Easthampton.

Elizabeth Whitney had 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Eagles (9-2, 7-2 Franklin), while Kristen Windoloski added 15 points.

Gateway Regional 43, Westfield Vocational 29 — Brooke Fairman put up another double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds as the Gators (6-2, 5-1 Tri-County) earned the road victory.

Kaitlin Mastello scored eight points in the win for Gateway.

Athol 65, Hopkins Academy 46 — Olivia Mathieu led all scorers with 20 points but the Golden Hawks (6-5, 6-3 Franklin South) fell on the road to the Red Raiders (9-0, 8-0 Franklin North).
