Weekend planner: Festival

A day-long celebration of local agriculture and sustainability starring one of the Valley’s most famous crops, Sunday’s Asparagus Festival at Seven Sisters Market Bistro and Bison Farm on Route 9 in Hadley will feature live music throughout the day by Signature Sounds artists Heather Maloney, Rani Arbo & daisy mayhem, Poor Old Shine and the Dire Honeys; activities for young children, including visits with Curious George and baby bison and performances by Tom McCabe and Paintbox Theater; an asparagus luncheon (12-2 p.m.); and a “Spears and Beers” craft beer tasting (4:30-7 p.m.). Also look for an appearance by guest celebrity chef Sara Moulton (pictured).

Hosted by WGBY, the festival runs 10 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Admission is free but tickets are required for the luncheon ($10) and beer tasting ($25). wgby.org
