Monday’s high school lacrosse: Amherst boys hold off Northampton
Kieran Presley’s four tallies and Nick Johnson’s five points helped lead the Amherst Regional boys lacrosse team to a tight 9-7 home victory over Northampton on Monday night.
Johnson had three goals and a pair of assists for Amherst (8-3, 3-2 Valley Wheel). Drew Kosloski and Alex LaRaja added a goal apiece, while Isaac Bass picked up an assist.
Alex Zadworny put in three goals for Hamp (4-5, 1-5). Jared Yarde (assist) and Will Lombardi had two each, with Ben Davis picking up an assist.
Northampton goalie Tyler Walsh made 15 saves and Amherst’s Will Barstow stopped 12 in the win.
South Hadley 15, Minnechaug 7 — TJ Fitzell (two assists) and Sam Duda each had three goals, while Tom Dowd, Ryan Dickinson (assist) and Tom Crotty each had two goals as the Tigers (11-1) rolled to the win in Wilbraham.
Evan Marcus (goal) had four assists, while Devin Hoagland made nine saves in the win.
Monson 13, Holyoke Catholic 5 — Brendan Lavallee (assist) and Joe McCoy each had two goals for the Gaels (1-8) in the road loss.
John O’Hara added a tally for Catholic, while Matthew Warbington made six saves.
Longmeadow 17, Amherst Regional 5 — Leah Goldman had two goals and one assist, while Meghan Sharick and Sarah Mangels had one goal and one assist each but the Hurricanes (1-7) fell on the road.
Taylor Bartmon had one goal and Katie Dunn made four saves in the loss.
