Hadley Resource Fair highlights choices for adults with disabilities

— Teenagers and young adults with disabilities have choices to make when it comes to life after high school. Will they go to college, get a job, find an apartment? To help them figure out their options for life after school, Family Empowerment in Hadley is holding a resource fair next week featuring a variety of agencies that will provide one-stop shopping for information on housing, job training and post-secondary education opportunities in the Valley.

Almost 30 organizations will be at Tuesday’s event, including Holyoke Community College, Federation for Children with Special Needs, Community Enterprises and Milestones. The resource fair runs from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hopkins Academy, 131 Russell St. in Hadley.

At 7:15 p.m., the Institute for Community Inclusion, which offers training and assistance to organizations to promote inclusion of people with disabilities in school, work and community activities, will do a presentation focused on what families should consider when planning for work and post-secondary opportunities.

The Transition Resource Fair, also sponsored by the Department of Developmental Services, is free and open to all. For questions or more information, call 585-8010, ext. 104 or 105.
