LGBT SUPPORT

PFLAG Franklin-Hampshire Chapter (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbian and Gays) offers welcoming support, education and advocacy for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people, their families, friends, and allies. The next meeting is today from 6 to 8 p.m. in the conference room of Highland Valley Elder Services in the Cutlery Building, 320 Riverside Dr., Northampton. STEP UP TO BETTER HEALTH

Cooley Dickinson Hospital’s Center for Excellence in Diabetes Education will hold a structured diabetes lifestyle intervention program. “Step Up,” a 12-session program comprised of three weekly sessions, offers a group approach to exercise, nutrition, meal planning, behavioral support and medication management. The next pre-screening for the program will be March 26 from 6 to 8 p.m.; the Step Up program begins April 1. The program cost is $150 per person for people between the ages of 30 and 75. MINDFULNESS & MEDITATION

The Hadley Yoga Studio, at 234 Russell St. (Route 9), will host “Mindfulness & Meditation 101,” a six-week class for 18 to 25-year-olds every Thursday, March 28 through May 2, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Participants can learn principles and practices about how to live fully in the present moment, with awareness and acceptance. This is a secular program, appropriate for anyone with a desire to live more fully. The fee for the five-week class is $120. Space is limited; call 582-6900. A $25 deposit is required to reserve a place.

BACK CARE 101

Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton will host “Healthy Back, Healthy Life,” a free program presented by Stephen Murphy, a practicing physical therapist and program director of the Cooley Dickinson Center for Human Motion and Director of Rehabilitation Services.
