State Sen. Stanley Rosenberg honored for helping children, families

State Sen. Stanley Rosenberg, D-Amherst, was honored recently for his work to benefit children and families of Massachusetts during the Step Up For Prevention ceremony held April 4 by the Children’s Trust Fund at the Statehouse in Boston.

Senate President Therese Murray said Rosenberg “is a leader on many important issues in the Legislature but not a day goes by where he isn’t helping a family in his community or working with children across the commonwealth. There is no one more deserving of this award.”

Rosenberg, who is the Senate majority leader, said: “I believe that there are few things in life that are more honorable than working to improve the lives of children. I am deeply appreciative of this award and look forward to continuing my partnership with the people of CTF and joining them in the great work they do.” A Statehouse ceremony included a display of 66 pairs of children’s shoes that represented the average number of children abused each day in Massachusetts. The governor’s proclamation of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month was read.

The Boston Bruins supported the event with a donation to purchase shoes, which will be given to families who participate in CTF-funded programs.

The Children’s Trust Fund provides support to parents by creating healthy home environments for children and offering services in which professionals visit with parents at their homes.
