Friday’s high schools: Chad Parent scored twice to lift Frontier past Southwick

The Frontier Regional boys soccer team continued its strong start to the season Friday.

A year after winning only two games, the Red Hawks received two goals from Chad Parent to beat Southwick 2-1 at Herlihy Park in Whately.

Dylan Landry and Connor Hamilton each had one assist for Frontier (5-3-0).

Dylan Husted had seven saves for Frontier.

South Hadley 1, Easthampton 0 — Nate Flachs scored out of a scrum in front of the net in the 78th minute to lift the Tigers (4-5-1) on the road.

A.J. Mercer was credited with the assist.

Christian Zukowski made seven saves for the shutout, while Brady Parker had 10 saves for the Eagles (0-8).

Smith Academy 1, Mahar 0 — Derek McMahon scored the lone goal as the Falcons (5-1-2) topped the Senators on the road.

Keith Natale assisted on the goal for Smith Academy, and goalie Cameron Woodward had five saves.

Pioneer 2, Granby 1 — Devin Bergeron scored with an assist from Conor O’Shea but the Rams (3-6-1) fell on the road.

Brett Sullivan made four saves in the loss.

McCann Tech 6, Smith Voke 1 — Tomaz Oliveira scored an unassisted goal, while Will Ingram made three saves but the Vikings (0-6-2) fell at home.

West Springfield 4, Northampton 0 — Jon Brodeur made eight saves but the Blue Devils (1-7) fell at home to the Terriers.

Gateway 1, Mohawk 0 — Calvin Dowers scored the lone goal and the Gators (5-2-1) held on for the victory on the road.

Curtis Dowers assisted on the goal for Gateway.

Mike Arel and Spencer Rock split time and combined for three saves.

Girls Soccer

Belchertown 1, Westfield 0 — Breanne Moreau scored the only goal as the Orioles (8-0-0) remained undefeated.

Jackie Soucia assisted on the goal.

Sarah LaClair (five saves) and Ashley Cavanaugh (three saves) split time in net for the Orioles.

West Springfield 1, Northampton 1 — Lily Glading-DiLorenzo scored with an assist from Erica Dean as the Blue Devils (1-4-2) pulled out a point at home behind a “great team effort,” according to coach Brian Brown.

The Terriers tied it with a goal in the second half.

Rose Katz-Berger made nine saves for Hamp.

South Hadley 1, Palmer 0 — Meghan Ginley scored two minutes into the second half with an assist from Danielle Miele as the Tigers (4-3-1) won on the road.

Abby Lukasik made nine saves for the shutout.

Field hockey

Westfield 2, South Hadley 1 — Jackie Doyle scored and Merry Kocot had the assist but the Tigers (3-6-0) fell at home.

Sam Brault made eight saves in the loss.

South Hadley, which trailed 2-1 at halftime, outplayed and outshot the Bombers 8-2 in the second half but couldn’t get the equalizer.

Girls volleyball

Greenfield 3, Smith Vocational 0 — Tia Messeck had five kills and two assists for the Vikings (0-7) in the 25-11, 25-14, 25-13 loss at home.

Emily Laroche had three kills and six assist for Smith Voke.

Prep schools Girls soccer

Williston 1, Wilbraham & Monson 0 — Gia Parker (Amherst) scored late in the game on a free kick, and the Wildcats (2-2, 2-0) held on to beat Wilbraham & Monson.

Olivia Berk-Krauss played well for the Wildcats and had eight saves.
