Thursday’s boys soccer: Belchertown turns the tables on West Springfield
Lewis Berger made 10 saves as the Belchertown boys soccer team exacted some revenge on West Springfield with a 1-0 road victory.
Alex DeSantis scored on a free kick in the second half for the Orioles (6-2, 3-1 Churchill), who lost 5-3 at home to the Terriers on Sept. 17.
Hampshire Regional 2, Hopkins Academy 2 — The Raiders (4-0-3) and the Golden Hawks (8-1-1) battled to an independent draw in Hadley.
Evan Delaney and Brennan Mitrolka had the goals for Hopkins, and Paul Delamy had an assist. Ben Pitta stopped seven shots.
Bryan and Kevin Brasil each scored for the Raiders, and were assisted by Colin Dearborn and Harry George. Ben Preston had 10 stops.
Gateway Regional 4, St. Mary 1 — Curtis Dowers had two goals and an assist to lead the Gators (5-2-1) to the independent road victory.
Sam Bean and Josh Baillargeon added a tally apiece for Gateway. Jake Merritt assisted twice and Nick McClafflin picked up one assist.
Mike Arel made four saves in the win.
Westfield Voke 5, Smith Voke 2 — Jeff Goralski and Tony Slowick each scored an unassisted goal for the Vikings (0-5-2) in the home loss.
Will Ingram made four saves for Smith Voke.
Amherst Regional 2, East Longmeadow 2 — The Hurricanes (5-1-1, 1-0-1 Smith) battled to a road draw.
Wilson Fidalgo and Eric Gooden scored for Amherst, and were assisted by Jordan Van Emmerik and Hadrian Rodriguez.
Mike Rock had five saves for Amherst.
Holyoke Catholic 4, Turners Falls 0 — John O’Hara scored twice with an assist for the Gaels (4-3-2) in the road shutout.
Collin Neffinger and John Hannoush added a tally each, with Ryan Lukomski, Nick Curran and Christiano Marconi assisting once apiece.
Tom Heavren made five saves for Catholic.
Putnam 2, Granby 0 — Brett Sullivan made two saves but the Rams (3-5-1) fell in Springfield.
