Tuesday’s boys soccer: Bryan Brasil, Brendan Bzdel combine for four goals as Hampshire remains unbeaten
Bryan Brasil and Brendan Bzdel each scored two goals as the Hampshire Regional boys soccer team defeated Sabis 4-0 at home to remain unbeaten.
Kevin Brasil was credited with two assists, while Ben Preston had six saves for the shutout.
David Labrie played well on defense for the Raiders (4-0-2).
Granby 2, Greenfield 1 — Matt Bleakley scored the game-winner in the 71st minute as the Rams (3-4-1) erased an early 1-0 deficit to win at home.
Zach Funk evened the score midway through the first half.
Brett Sullivan made 13 saves in net.
Smith Academy 7, Mohawk 0 — Jack Dadmun scored twice as 10 Falcons (4-1-2) registered points in the win in Hatfield.
Derek McMahon added a goal and an assist, while Tyler Gay, Joey Thomas and Steve Brzozowzki each scored one goal.
Brzozowski’s tally was the first of his career.
Joe Afflitto, Keith Natale, Ben Bruscoe, Sam Boas and Tanner Natale were each credited with an assist, while Harry Kennedy was dominant in the midfield.
Cam Woodward made one save for the shutout.
Hopkins Academy 2, Southwick 0 — Paul Delamy and Tim Hanlon each had a goal for the Golden Hawks (7-1) in the road shutout.
Zach Andersen and Chad Sanderson picked up an assist apiece for Hopkins, while Ben Pitta made four saves.
Frontier Regional 2, South Hadley 1 — Niko Ames scored the unassisted game winner for the Red Hawks (4-3) on the road.
Chad Parent scored the first Frontier goal assisted by Jamie Blinder.
Nate Flachs scored for the Tigers (2-5-1) with Zack Simon on the assist.
Christian Zuchowski made six saves for South Hadley, while Dylan Husted also had six stops in the victory.
Holyoke Catholic 2, Pioneer Regional 2 — John O’Hara scored the tying goal late (67th minute) and the Gaels (2-3-2) finished in a tie at Northfield.
Adam Provost scored the other goal for Holyoke Catholic, and Colin Meffinger and Nick Cox had assists.
Tom Heavren played well in net for the Gaels, stopping eight shots.
Gateway Regional 3, Turners Falls 0 — The efforts of twins Calvin and Curtis Dowers helped the Gators (4-2-1) to a home win.
Calvin Dowers scored two goals, assisted by Denver Yost on the first and Justin Edinger on the second. Curtis Dowers scored assisted by Josh Baillargeon.
Mike Arel made one save in the first half, as did Spencer Rock in the second.
Ware 4, Smith Vocational 0 — Keeper Will Ingram made seven saves, but the Vikings (1-2-2) fell at home.
