Friday’s high schools: Frontier girls volleyball takes down Longmeadow

In its first big match of the season Friday, the Frontier Regional girls volleyball team beat Longmeadow 3-1 in South Deerfield.

The Red Hawks (7-0) beat the Lancers (5-3) 25-14, 25-18, 18-25, 25-21.

Cassidy Ciesluk complied 17 kills, 14 digs and three aces.

Remi Quesnelle contributed nine kills and Emily Woodward had 38 assists.

Franklin Tech 3, Smith Voke 0 — The Vikings (0-5) fell 25-21, 25-7, 25-15 on the road.

Riley Lacaprucia contributed four kills, five assists and an ace for the Vikings.

Bailee Richardson generated four kills, six assists and three digs, while Ali Lewis helped out with two kills, five assists and two aces.

Minnechaug 3, Amherst Regional 1 — The Hurricanes (6-1, 1-1 Eastern) suffered their first setback of the season, losing 25-21, 25-8, 19-25, 25-18 on the road.

Justine Bohl had 19 assists, six digs and three blocks for Amherst. Cassie Long had 24 digs, Ali Ziomek six digs and four aces, while Shaya Shally-Jensen added nine kills.

Girls soccer

Agawam 2, Northampton 1 — Lily Glading-DiLorenzo scored unassisted in the fourth minute, but the Brownies came back with two before halftime to take control in Agawam.

Rose Katz-Berger made 11 saves, while Sage Loomis and Winnie Brown played well on defense for the Blue Devils (1-3-1, 1-2-1 Kurty-Fielding).

Lauren McGrath also played well in the loss, showing a lot of leadership according to coach Brian Brown.

South Hadley 1, Central 0 — Meghan Ginley scored the game winner, assisted by Rachel Harrington in the 59th minute, and keeper Abby Lukasik made six saves as the Tigers (3-1-1) won at home.

Field hockey

Northampton 5, West Springfield 0 — Emily Allcroft (assist) scored three goals and Missie Maiewski (assist) added two as the Blue Devils (6-0) stayed undefeated.

Reilly Griffin and Emily Biggs each had one assist, while Dana Durfour made six saves for the shutout.

Frontier 2, Agawam 1 — Jordyn Roberts and Rose Moscaritolo each scored, while Taryn Marquis had one assist as the Red Hawks (5-1) won at home.

Gwen Thayer made eight saves in the win.


Brandon Netkovick shot a 45 as Belchertown beat St. Mary’s 289-295 at Cold Spring Country Club in Belchertown.
