Monday’s boys soccer: Amherst edges West Springfield
A great pass led to the lone as the Amherst Regional boys soccer team beat West Springfield, 1-0 in Amherst Monday.
Ian Robson fed Alex LaRaja with a cross, and the junior beat the Terriers’ goaltender to score the winning goal off a header with nine minutes left for the Hurricanes (4-1).
Mike Rock made 10 saves and Adrian Haughton played well on defense in the shutout.
Frontier 3, Turners Falls 0 — Andy Habel, Chad Parent (assist) and Andrew MacDonald each scored, while Niko Ames and Connor Hamilton each had one assist as the Red Hawks (3-1) rolled at home.
Dylan Husted made three saves for the shutout.
Westfield 1, Northampton 0 — Jon Brodeur made four saves but the Blue Devils (1-2-0) fell on the road.
Pittsfield 5, Easthampton 2 — Raphiel Coleman and Zack Cristafuli each scored, while Dakota Wheeler had an assist but the Eagles (0-5) fell on the road.
Brady Parker made 26 saves in the loss.
Putnam 5, Smith Vocational 2 — Jeff Goralski and Josh Harriman each had a goal for the Vikings (0-2-1, 0-1 Tri-County North) in the home loss.
Oscar Pinqul assisted on Goralski’s tally, while Will Ingram made five stops in goal.
