Monday's high school games: Hampshire Regional girls basketball in Division 2 Tournament

The Hampshire Regional girls basketball team dominated on both ends of the floor in a 76-28 home victory over Sci-Tech that clinched a Western Massachusetts Division 2 Tournament berth.

The Raiders (10-2) took a 41-7 lead at halftime and coasted to their eighth consecutive win.

Sarah Kober, Anna Dziok and Laura Whiteley each had 12 points for Hampshire, while eighth-grader Katy O’Connor had seven points and 12 rebounds.

Agawam 52, Amherst Regional 34 — Justine Bohl scored a team-high eight points and Sarah Mangels added six as the Hurricanes (1-10, 0-1 Suburban) lost on the road.

Hopkins Academy 75, Smith Academy 21 — Mackenzie Sullivan had a career-high 22 points and five rebounds as the Golden Hawks cruised past the rival Falcons in Hatfield.

Madi Stevens added 14 points and Olivia Mathieu (eight rebounds, five steals) and Kate Sullivan each had 12 points for Hopkins (7-5, 7-3 Franklin South).

Kate Yagodzinski and Ashley Higgins each had seven points for Smith (2-10, 1-9 Franklin South).

Athol 41, Easthampton 23 — Elizabeth Whitney scored 14 points, but the Eagles (10-3, 8-3 Franklin South) lost the matchup of Division 2 tournament-bound teams.

Frontier Regional 43, Pioneer Regional 19 — The Red Hawks (6-6, 6-5 Franklin South) had five players with six or more points in the home victory.

Mindy Esposito and Camilla Baronas led Frontier with nine points each. Olivia Riordan had eight points, eight rebounds and seven steals, while Amanda Calvo scored seven.

Sydney Judge (six points) spearheaded the defensive effort by holding Pioneer top scorer Natalie Hale to just nine points.

Gateway Regional 34, Franklin Tech 25 — Kaitlin Mastello scored a game-high 13 points to help the Gators (8-2, 7-1 Tri-County) to a road victory.

Chelsi Derrig had seven points for Gateway, while Brooke Fairman added six.

Holyoke Catholic 42, Putnam 25 — The Gaels (5-7, 3-1 Bi-County West) played their best quarter of the season to pull away at Holyoke Community College.

Six different players scored as Holyoke Catholic posted a 19-6 advantage in the second frame and never looked back.

Kyra Robins scored a team-high eight points, while Danielle Easton and Julia Hiney added seven each.

Hockey

Amherst Regional 0, South Hadley 0 — The goalies were the story as the Hurricanes (3-6-3) and Tigers (7-2-1) played to a scoreless tie at Fitzpatrick Rink.

Amherst’s Eddie Sablak turned aside all 46 shots, while Devin Hoagland also earned a shutout with 29 saves for South Hadley.

Chicopee 4, Turners Falls 3 — The Indians (6-6-1, 4-2 Wright) fell behind by two goals after one period and couldn’t recover in the loss at Fitzpatrick Rink.

Cody Booska had a hat trick for Turners, while Trevor Peduzzi, Brandon Lenois and Tim Atkins all picked up an assist apiece.

Will Miller made 35 stops in net in defeat.

Cathedral 3, Central Catholic 3 — John Leonard of Amherst scored a pair of goals as the Panthers (9-0-2) remained unbeaten with the draw at Holy Cross.
