Power expected back by early afternoon for 3,000 National Grid customers
National Grid had nearly 3,000 customers who lost power in Williamsburg, Goshen and Leeds Friday morning back online by early afternoon.
Spokeswoman Deborah Drew said crews fixed a failed piece of equipment in a power substation located in Florence.
The equipment broke down mid-morning, leaving 1,440 customers without power in Williamsburg, 860 in Leeds and 655 in Goshen.
Drew said crews had been monitoring the power lines in these areas on Thursday after receiving reports of sporadic failures following a thunderstorm Wednesday night. When they found nothing amiss, crews widened their search to include the Florence substation.
“We’re confident this will solve the problem,” Drew said.
