Monday’s girls lacrosse: Holyoke Catholic beats Chicopee Comp

The sophomore beat the freshman Monday.

Holyoke Catholic’s second-year girls lacrosse program beat first-year Chicopee Comp 12-4 in Chicopee.

Elizabeth Klejna scored four goals and Elizabeth Cavanaugh and Rita Hannoush added three apiece for the Gaels (2-0).

Lexie Neffinger scored three points (two goals, assist) in the victory and Lauren Fitzgerald added an assist.

Katie Klejna made four saves in the win.

Minnechaug 17, South Hadley 3 — Maddie Brandts, Sienna Hebert and Tara Bainbridge each scored a goal as the Tigers (0-3, 0-3 Valley Wheel) fell on the road.

Meghan Ginley and Kara Callahan each recorded an assist, while Beth Hennessy made nine saves in goal.

West Springfield 8, Belchertown 6 — Chloe Zinter scored three goals for the Orioles (2-2, 1-1 Valley League), who dropped a narrow one at home.

Emma Jopson had a pair of goals, while Brea Allen scored one and assisted on another. Natalie Caney picked up two assists and Tiffany Anderson one.

Emma Norden made eight saves in net for Belchertown.

Brattleboro 11, Amherst Regional 5 — Sarah Mangels scored twice and assisted on another as the Hurricanes (1-2) lost at home.

Taylor Bartmon, Meghan Sharick and Lizzy Simon each contributed one goal apiece.

Addie Gamliel got the start in goal, collecting 10 saves.
