DASH AND DINE: The Amherst Survival Center will benefit from the fourth annual “UMass 5K Dash and Dine” today.
The run and walk, put on by UMass Dining Services, promotes health and fitness. The fee is $5 for UMass community members and $15 for the public, which includes registration, and a complimentary meal following the award ceremony. The first 500 registrants receive a T-shirt. ESTATE PLANNING: Estate and financial planning will be the focus of two workshops at the Amherst Area Chamber of Commerce’s Brown Bag Lunch Series.
Mark Zacek and Danny Kates of MassMutual/Wealth New England Financial Group and Attorney Susan Mielnikowski of Cooley, Shrair PC will present the workshops Thursday and April 18 in the Woodbury Room at the Jones Library between noon and 1:30 p.m. both days.
The first session, “Estate Planning: Planning for a Lifetime,” focuses on durable power of attorney, health care proxies and how to plan for long-term care or assistance.
The second session, “Estate Planning: Wills, Trusts, Medicaid and Long-Term Care for Traditional and LGBT families” focuses on challenges for people in the LGBT community, with many gay couples being treated differently from traditional families by the federal government.
RABIES CLINIC: A rabies clinic will be held at the Goshen Fire Station, 56 Main St., today from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The fee is $23 per animal. Proceeds will benefit the volunteer Fire Department.
