Monday’s girls soccer results: Elizabeth Hotham nets two goals, leads Hampshire to third straight win
Elizabeth Hotham scored twice and the Hampshire Regional girls soccer team is one win away from pulling back to the .500 mark after a rough start to the season.
The Raiders, who opened the season 0-4-1, won their third straight game 3-1 over South Hadley at home Monday.
Sarah Kober scored what proved to be the game winner, while Vanessa Groeber and Savannah Waters each picked up an assist for Hampshire. Bri Weltlich made five saves in the win.
Brett Flaherty scored unassisted for the Tigers (2-5), with Abby Lukasik making 14 stops in the loss.
Northampton 4, Central 1 — The Blue Devils (6-1) scored three times in the second half to bounce back from their first loss on Friday.
Lily Glading-DiLorenzo’s second tally of the game proved to be the game winner for Hamp. Sage Loomis and Leah Tompkins added an insurance goal apiece, while Hannah Fin-Erb and Haley Subocz each had an assist.
Maya Kerstetter made four saves in the victory, including a stop on a penalty shot.
Smith Academy 8, Greenfield 0 — Nicole Gay scored three times and set up another as the Falcons brushed off last week’s loss to Gateway with a dominant effort at home.
Cassidy Snyder (two goals), Ali Fitzgerald (goal, assist) and Hannah Sassi (two assists) each had multiple points.
Mia Ellis and Brooke Pashek scored a goal apiece, while Olivia Hanson and Olivia Shaw-Merrigan each had an assist.
Pashek also made two saves while Kory Wagner (two saves) and Mollie Higgins (three saves) also played goalie for Smith (6-1, 6-0 Franklin).
Holyoke Catholic 3, Putnam 0 — Lexi Neffinger had a goal and an assist as the Gaels (2-4-2) won in Springfield.
Katherine Zombik and Anne DeSimone also scored in the victory, while Maddi Aponte was credited with an assist.
Katie Klejna didn’t face a shot on goal in the shutout.
Chicopee 6, Frontier Regional 1 — Stephanie Swasey scored the lone goal for the Red Hawks (0-6) in the road defeat.
Sam Clift assisted on Swasey’s goal, and Camilla Baronas made 18 saves for Frontier.
Belchertown 6, Ludlow 0 — Natalie Caney had four points as the undefeated Orioles (5-0) picked up an impressive victory at Ludlow.
Caney scored twice with two assists for Belchertown, while Jackie Soucia and Bryanna Veroneau both had a goal and an assist. Brittany and Breanne Moreau each scored once, with an assist apiece for Téa Spellacy and Karley Hodge.
Sarah LaClair and Ashley Cavanaugh each made a pair of saves in splitting the time in net.
Gateway Regional 5, Mahar Regional 0 — Chelsea Derrig and Alyssa Moreau each scored twice as the Gators (6-1) earned a lopsided home victory.
Joanna Arkoette added a tally for Gateway, with Sami King and Kendall Rooney picking up an assist apiece.
Brooke Fairman made one save for the shutout.
East Longmeadow 3, Amherst 0 — Sarah Grace Spurgin made 11 saves in the loss for the Hurricanes (1-5-2).
