Monday’s local baseball: Easthampton Post 225 rallies past Agawam

Nick Grise’s RBI single capped a three-run rally for the Easthampton Post 224 American Legion baseball team in the seventh inning of a 3-2 win at Agawam Monday evening.

Erik Fickett (run) hit a two-run triple to tie the game, scoring Justin Edinger and Noah Batchelder, who each had walked. Max Weir had two hits for Easthampton (6-7).

Adam Krol picked up the victory, striking out six in a complete-game 4-hitter.

Belchertown 9, Longmeadow 8 (8) — After scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie, Joey Mack’s walk-off single won it for Post 239 (3-7) the next inning.

Andrew Davidsohn fell a single short of hitting for the cycle. He had a double, triple and a three-run home run to pace the Belchertown attack. Mack (double) and Jimmy Kusnierz (triple) also had two hits apiece.

Tyler Gladu tossed a perfect top of the eighth to earn the win.

Little League (11/12)

Longmeadow 16, Northampton Gold 2 (4) — Michael Bassett (single) and Kahil Supinski each had an RBI for Northampton Gold (0-2) in the mercy-shortened home loss in the District 2 tournament.

Eddie Sarafin doubled and scored a run for Hamp, while Jayden Darling (run) and Colin Ferrara added a hit apiece.

Westfield American 6, Northampton Blue 5 — Northampton Blue scored four times in the top of the sixth to take a one-run lead, but allowed two runs in the bottom of the inning in the District 2 tournament road loss.

Noah Brink went 4 for 4 with two RBIs for Hamp Blue, and Patrick Serio was 2 for 3 with a run scored.

Little League (Senior)

Gateway 17, Westfield 6 — Trailing 5-2 going into the bottom of the fourth, Gateway (4-0) put up 15 runs over the final three innings in the blowout home win in the District 2 tournament.

Everett Warner went 4 for 5 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Joe Jones (two runs, RBI) and Johnny Haskell (three runs) each had two hits.

Haskell (four innings, seven strikeouts) and Trevor Bruno (two IP, two Ks) combined on a 6-hitter.

Mickey Mantle

Deerfield 11, Amherst 1 (5) — Quinn Doyle allowed just four hits with two strikeouts in a mercy-shortened home victory for Deerfield (12-1).

Noah Barnes had a two-run double and scored two runs in the win, while Trevor Mankowsky doubled twice and scored three times. Kade Gewanter (two RBIs), Quinn Doyle (RBI, run) and Seth Gewanter (RBI, run) each added a hit.

Trevor Edwards (run), Stephen McCudden, Jonathan Morrison and Jack Hession had a hit apiece for Amherst (5-6).

Tri-County League

Easthampton Savings Bank 10, Longmeadow 8 — Chris Starcun had a two-run triple and drove in five runs as ESB (6-5-1) were victorious at home.

Billy Smith reached base four times on two hits and two walks. He scored three runs. Jack Baldwin picked up the win in relief and Anthony Nomakeo earned a save.

Teddy Bear 9, Dream Bats 5 — Andrew Sadowski fanned 10 over five innings to earn the victory for Teddy Bear (6-6) on the road.

Casey Blanchard had three hits, including a double and triple, and drove in a run. Kyle Platner doubled in a pair and stole two bases, Nick Marscher had two hits, two steals and an RBI and Tom Malooly knocked in a run on a double.
