COLLEGE FAIR: Over 170 colleges and universities from around the country will be on hand today at Hopkins Academy, 131 Russell St., to provide information to students and parents on majors, careers and financial aid. The event, which runs from 6 to 8 p.m. was organized by the guidance departments at Amherst Regional, Belchertown, Easthampton, Hampshire Regional, Northampton and South Hadley high schools, Hopkins Academy, Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public School, Smith Academy and Williston Northampton School. Parking is available at Most Holy Redeemer, 120 Russell St., Hampshire County Juvenile Court, 116 Russell St., Hadley Elementary School, 21 River Drive, and The Old Hooker School/Senior Center, 46 Middle St. Two buses will be provide shuttle service for students and parents.

INDOOR TRACK PROGRAM: The Belchertown High School’s Community Indoor Track Program will reopen for use by adult Belchertown citizens, Grade 9 or above, and for their children, if accompanied and closely supervised by the parent or guardian. The track will be open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from Oct. 9 to May 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. The track will not open on holidays, on school vacation days, when school is not in session, and when there is an evening interscholastic event scheduled in the high school gymnasium.

All participants must initially register with the Adult Evening Program Supervisor and show proof of residency (i.e. driver’s license, utility bill), and must sign in each time when using the indoor track. Only the indoor track and lobby rest rooms will be available for use.
SAFETY OPEN HOUSE: The Northampton Fire Department will host a Public Safety Open House at its headquarters at 26 Carlon Drive on Saturday. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will be held rain or shine. Refreshments will be provided by Papa Gino’s. October is National Fire Safety Month, and at the Open House, families will learn about fire prevention, participate in fire safety activities, and visit with the men and women of Northampton’s Public safety agencies. CELEBRATION: The Kestrel Land Trust will honor its conservation partners — Northampton and Westhampton — as well as the donors who made this summer’s 121-acre expansion of the Mineral Hills conservation area possible Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Mineral Hills Winery at Godard’s Red Hen Farm, 592 Sylvester Road, Florence. The event will offer free wine-tasting and refreshments and live music by guitarist/vocalist Zack Danziger.
