Northampton man faces charges after allegedly stealing mail in Amherst — and other area police news

Amherst

■ Police will summon a 33-year-old Northampton man to court on charges of malicious destruction of property under $250 and larceny under $250 after he allegedly struck a mailbox and stole mail at a downtown location at 9:42 p.m. Thursday.

Easthampton

■ Jeremie C. Gill, 20, of 66 Brown Ave., Holyoke, was arrested at a home on East Street at 8:27 p.m. Thursday on a warrant.

■ Cameron Mitchell, 32, of 18 Arlington St., was arrested at 11:27 a.m. Thursday on Pleasant Street on a warrant.

■ Holly A. Robare, 36, of 15 Arlington St., was arrested at 3:28 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant.

■ Todd M. Brooks, 43, of 30 Union St., Apt. 2, Greenfield, was arrested at 10:51 a.m. Tuesday on Cottage Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and registration.

Northampton

■ Louis Santiago, 33, who listed his address as the streets of Northampton, was arrested at 6 p.m. Thursday in Pulaski Park on an outstanding warrant issued by Eastern Hampshire District Court on charges of shoplifting and receiving stolen property worth less than $250.

■ Kevin Ranney, 52, of North Maple Street, Florence, was arrested at 3:27 p.m. Thursday at his home on three outstanding warrants issued by Northampton District Court on charges of assault and battery (two counts) and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

■ A Northampton woman was cited in connection with a three-car accident on the Coolidge Bridge at 2:59 p.m. Thursday that reduced traffic to one lane but caused no serious injuries.

Police said Maryann Grunseth, 24, of State Street, was driving west on the bridge when her car was involved in a collision with another vehicle driven by Sarah Smith, 26, of Charlottesville, Va. Smith’s car then hit another vehicle driven by Suzanne Muzechuk, 66, of Enfield, Conn. Grunseth was cited with failure to use care in stopping.

■ A Florence teenager was cited with failure to use care in stopping in connection with a two-car accident at 2:38 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Elm Street and Riverside Drive.

Police said a car driven by Mark Grabiec, 16, of Florence Road, Florence, was involved in a collision with a vehicle driven by Carol Owen, 64, of Maple Ridge Road. No injuries were reported. Damage to the vehicles was estimated at more than $1,000.

■ Police received a report at 12:40 p.m. Thursday that someone had taken mailed packages containing computer software and DVDs worth an estimated $75 from the front steps of a house on High Meadow Road.

■ Joseph Theroux, 24, of Walnut Street, was arrested at 11:35 a.m. Thursday on Pleasant Street on an outstanding warrant issued by Northampton District Court on charges of disorderly conduct and violation of an abuse prevention order.

■ Police received a report at 10:21 a.m. Thursday of a stolen sign for Mineral Hills Winery posted at the intersection of Kennedy and Sylvester roads. The sign is worth more than $250.
