John Hannoush scored twice in the second half to break up a scoreless game and lift the Holyoke Catholic boys soccer team to a tournament-clinching 2-0 home win over Putnam on Monday afternoon.
Ryan Lukomski earned an assist for the Gaels (8-5-2), while Tom Heavren made five stops.
Palmer 3, Gateway Regional 0 — Mike Arel made 10 saves, but the Gators (9-3-2) were blanked on the road.
Amherst Regional 5, Ware 0 — Hannah Viederman had a hat trick for the Hurricanes (7-3-3), who moved to within a point of clinching their first tournament berth in a decade with the road shutout.
Hattie Wilder-Karlstrom and Sage DeChiara added a tally apiece for Amherst. Kailey Tobin, Nina Choquette and Shira Mednick assisted once apiece.
Becca Carkhuff and April Weintraub each made two saves.
Belchertown 3, West Springfield 0 — Brittany Moreau scored twice and twin sister Breanne Moreau added the other goal as the Orioles (13-0-1, 5-0-1 Coombs) kept rolling at home.
Kayla Henry and Alaina Swift had an assist each for Belchertown, with Sarah LaClair earning a five-save shutout.
Gateway Regional 7, St. Mary 0 — Jess Van Heynigen, Ali Fisk and Charlotte LaBarron had a goal and assist apiece for the Gators (9-2-3) in the road win.
Montgomery Moses, Alyssa Moreau, Jessie Walton and Kendall Rooney added a goal each for Gateway. Sarah Stec and Sami King each picked up an assist.
Sarah Otterbeck (one save) and Becca Herman (none) combined for the shutout.
Northampton 3, Chicopee Comp 2 — Erica Dean scored from Lauren McGrath with three minutes left in regulation to lift the Blue Devils (3-8-2, 2-3-1 Kurty-Fielding) to a comeback road victory.
Abby Springfield tied it up on a breakaway with roughly 10 minutes to play for Hamp. Lily Glading-Dilorenzo scored the first goal on an assist from Steph Jordan.
Rose Katz-Berger earned the win with six saves.
Cathedral 3, Holyoke Catholic 0 — The Gaels (7-3-3) allowed all three goals in the first half on the road and remained one point short of clinching a postseason spot.
South Hadley 3, Palmer 0 — Jackie Doyle (assist), Emily Florence and Taylor Guertin had a goal apiece for the Tigers (5-9-1, 4-1-1 Central) in the home victory.
Ali Rondeau and Katie Meon each picked up an assist for South Hadley, while Sam Brault made three saves for the shutout.
The Tigers strengthened their hold on second place in the Central Division, which would earn them a postseason berth.
