Cynthia L. Chamberland of Easthampton to be summoned to court following accident Sunday
EASTHAMPTON — A city woman will be summoned to court to face charges of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and failing to use care in turning after a medical condition contributed to her vehicle going off the road at 6:14 p.m. Sunday.
Cynthia L. Chamberland, 57, of 5 Arthur St., was attempting to turn left from Ferry Street onto Arthur Street when she lost control of her vehicle and it struck a row of hedges and wooden pylons at 165 Ferry St., according to police.
Police said Chamberland is partially paralyzed and drives using “mechanical aids.” She told police she had a spasm that caused her to lose control of the vehicle.
During the investigation, police found that Chamberland’s license had expired.
Police said Chamberland will be reported to the state Registry of Motor Vehicles as an “immediate threat.”
