Marijuana plants confiscated in Amherst, and other area police news
■ Police confiscated 10 marijuana plants growing between homes on Hartman Road Sunday at 8:09 p.m. Police are investigating.
■ Colby Scott Gallant, 20, of Bellingham, was arrested Sunday at 2:25 a.m. on North Pleasant Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, failure to stay within marked lanes, operating a motor vehicle with a number plate violation, negligent operation of a motor vehicle to endanger, being a minor in possession of alcohol and possessing an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.
■ John Thomas Logan, 24, of Warwick, R.I., was arrested Sunday at 1:36 a.m. on North Pleasant Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle to endanger and operating a motor vehicle with a number plate violation.
■ Andrew J. Karrasch, 22, of 81 Belchertown Road, Unit 108, was arrested Friday at 11:09 p.m. at his Colonial Village home on a charge of disorderly conduct.
Karrasch was arrested after yelling and screaming while on the hood of a vehicle in the parking lot and then confronting responding officers, police said.
■ Gregory Thornton Tillman Jr., 24, of Yarmouthport, was arrested Friday at 5:43 p.m. on North Pleasant Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license (subsequent offense) and operating a motor vehicle with no inspection sticker and on a warrant, police said.
■ Melissa R. Hamel, 20, of Chicopee, was issued written warnings for failure to use care in stopping and impeded and unsafe operation of a motor vehicle after the vehicle she was driving on Northampton Road in the area of Dana Street Friday at 4:18 p.m. rear-ended a vehicle driven by Claudia M. Ciano-Boyce, 60, of 116 Fomer Road, Southampton, which in turn was pushed into a vehicle driven by Tyler Scott Nelson, 19, of Forest City, N.C., police said.
Hamel and Jill Rehor, 34, of Westfield and a passenger in Hamel’s vehicle, both suffered minor injuries and were transported by Amherst Fire Department ambulance to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton for treatment, police said.
Hamel and Ciano-Boyce’s vehicles were towed, police said.
■ Devon Jesus, 17, of 69 Whately Road, South Deerfield, and Matthew Giguere, 19, of 37 Stebbins St., Belchertown, were arrested Friday at 2:44 a.m. at Mount Pollux Conservation Area on charges of possessing a class B drug (pills).
■ Kyle Call, 27, of 172 Shutesbury Road, Leverett, was arrested Thursday at 5:06 p.m. at an Amherst location on a warrant, police said.
■ Nicholas J. Deveno, 33, of Newport, R.I., was arrested Aug. 14 at 1:56 a.m. on Chauncey Walker Road on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol (third offense), operating an unregistered motor vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, illegally attaching license plates to a motor vehicle and possessing an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.
■ William McLaughlin, 54, of 66.5 Maple St., Apt. M, was arrested on East Street Saturday at 3:05 p.m. on a warrant.
■ Charles S. Ainsworth, 26, of Springfield, was arrested Saturday at 12:15 a.m. on Pleasant Street on a warrant.
■ Ulises Reyes, 26, of Colonial Village, Unit 103, Amherst, was arrested Friday at 10:43 a.m. on Rocky Hill Road on charges of operating a motor vehicle in violation of a license class restriction and speeding.
